For my graffiti tag project I came up with a design with my partner Jacee. We came up with the main design of seis diez, meaning six ten in Spanish. We used these numbers because they are the months we were born, June(me) and October(Jacee). Around the word I drew things to represent me. I drew the UNI logo, a softball and soccer ball, a cross, Under Armour sign, and the Jif peanut butter logo. Below is a slideshow of my progress photos.
For my responding challenge I chose to compare other culture's art. I compared African, Asian, and Brazilian art. The artwork looked really neat. I don't have many life experiences toward art but art does influence and motivate me sometimes. When I see a piece of artwork showing "never give up" it motivates me to keep trying, even if I fail. I learned from this project that different cultures have a different look to their artwork. Even though it has a different look, it still looks cool.
For my presenting challenge I chose to do a theme based presentation about Pablo Picasso because I don't know anything about him. I gathered some of his artwork and put it into a iMovie.

I decided to draw a soccer cleat because that is something I have always struggled drawing. I drew it twice to get a feel of how to draw it. In my second drawing I changed a few minor details to make it look better. When I finished drawing it for the second time I trimmed the paper and put black paper behind it. My 2D project is drawing of a soccer goal. I chose this because soccer is something I LOVE. I started off by searching "how to draw a soccer goal" and drew that on a piece of paper. I did this a few times before I became comfortable drawing it. In my finished copy I colored the posts and crossbar of the goal purple. The grass I did a light green with dark green tufts of grass. The background I colored a light blue for the sky. Below is a slideshow of my process pictures. Once you have carved out what you want, you need to pick your colors and get a brayer. A brayer is a roller you use to put ink on your linoleum block. You put the ink on a small tray and roll it out. When you put ink on you want it to be a small layer so that the ink doesn't get in the cracks. Once you have ink on your linoleum, you need to print a run of prints. A run means to print several in a row. When you print you first have to draw your design on your linoleum piece. Remember, if you have numbers or letters you need to trace them backwards. Once you have that done you need to get a stop block and a carver. A stop block is a wooden block you put on the table so that when you carve and your carver slips, it hits the block. When you carve, whatever you carve out is what is going to show up.
My logo design is the number 27 and my initials. I chose the number 27 because that is my soccer number and soccer is my favorite sport. My initials are HK so I put them in between the two and the seven. My background is green because green is my favorite color. The image below is what my logo design use to be, but I changed it.
